The Novice Soldier

Aking ipinapa-alala, bago tuluyang malimutan,
Ang kawal na binata, Bidam ang pangalan;
Tinagurian siyang, "Itinakwil na Kawal":
Ngunit binansagang, "Magiting na Heneral"!
Kalaba'y sumusuko pag siya ang katunggali,
Kagitinga'y solido, kaya siya'y nagwawagi;
Sa pakikipaglaban, maingat siyang nagmamasid:
Babagsak ang kalaban, gaano man siya kasugid!

Brave Bidam saw a young lady being attack by a group of enemies;
Bidam shouted & called earnestly the attention of those enemies:
"Here I am -- Dare not touch her--I am ready to defend her!"
But instead the wild enemies threatened the Novice Soldier...
